B.I.B.L.E. {Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth}

We are teaching a Back to Basics Parenting Workshop at Faith Baptist Saturday 2/27/10 12-4PM. Bring the kids; there will be finger sandwiches, games, and hands-on parenting workshops. {See flyer for more details}

We as Christian parents must inculcate the basics of our Christian faith into our children before they leave our homes for college, marriage or the work force. And parents are the most influential people in their childrens’ lives.

Yet, upwards to ninety four percent of children from our Christian homes leave the traditional church after high school , and 65% do not know that Jesus is the only way. A majority do not believe in moral absolutes. What is happening to our families in America?

We as Christian parents have relegated the religious education of our children to the Sunday school teacher, the pastor, or their public school teacher. Or even worse, we do not ourselves know the basics of our Christian Faith.

What are some of the basics that every parent should teach their child:

1 – Statement of Faith – Every church has a statement of faith. In it are the very fundamentals that we live by. Are you familiar with it? Have you taught it to your children?

2 – The Ten Commandments –If the goal of child training is to disciple a child towards a commitment to Christ, then a child must first know God’s standards as found in the Ten Commandments. It is not until a person understands that he cannot fulfill the moral laws of God, that he really understands the need for forgiveness and a Savior. The Ten Commandments teach us God’s moral absolutes that are undisputable.

3 – Teach Your Children to Honor and Respect You – Unless they respect you they will not respect God. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of understanding {Prov. 1:7}, and the fear of parents is the beginning of respecting and fearing the Lord. Too many youth are hell bound and slaves to fornication and drugs and crime because their parents never required respect at home. Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”-which is the first commandment with a promise “that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” NIV

4 – Separation from the World – {Romans 12:2} – Did you know that you are in the world but not of the world?{John 17:16} Does your home reflect God on it’s walls, in your entertainment, in your conversation, in your fellowship?

5 – How to Feed on God’s Word – Teach your children to delight in God’s Word Does every person, grandparent, child in your home read, study, memorize, & discuss the Bible?

6 – Discus Old and New Testament Illustrations of those who were punished and rewarded for not obeying or obeying God. When Ananias was struck down by God for deception, the rest of the believers trembled in fear.{Acts 5:5} Rahab was commended for helping Israel {Heb 11:21}

7 – Teach Your Children How to Work – Prov 14:23 “All hard work brings a profit,
but mere talk leads only to poverty.” One of the best things you can do for your children is teach them how to work, so that they can provide for themselves and their family when they leave your home. Too many Americans think they are doing their kids a favor by letting them play all the time. In reality they are producing a useless person who will never learn to help out or even provide for themselves.

Above are a small portion of the life saving basics B.I.B.L.E {Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth} that should be taught to your children before they leave your home.

Families, join us in the upcoming parenting workshop for family fun and hands on workshops and learn how to 1. Conduct a Bible Devotion 2 – How to Have TV Free Fun with your Kids 3 – How to Create a Godly Home Environment and more. {See Flyer for more details.}

The Creator of the universe has the winning plan for your family,in His owners manual for families, the B.I.B.L.E {basic instructions before leaving earth.} Statistics depict grim trends for young people walking away from the faith. The solution is for families to get Back to Basics of God’s Word in ‘training them up in the way they should go.’ {Prov.22:6}

We offer two venues to present this teaching: 1 – the Back to Basics Family Workshops in Churches and conference centers, and 2 – The Back to Basics Family Retreat – week long and weekend family camps at our campground.

Enjoy a family retreat vacation this summer in the lovely Adirondacks and at the same time draw near to God as a family as you learn and apply what God’s Word has to say to Fathers, Mothers, and Children. Leave refreshed with the answers that will bring peace to your home. See our website for more details {JesusisLordpark.com}

What’s Happening

{above: Part of the “Teen Group” laying Cobble into Culvert Ditch”}

Recent Activity: We have had a flurry of good activity since purchasing the camp on 7/30/09. Our goal is to provide a safe haven for Christian Families and Individuals to recreate and worship in a Christian environment. To that end we have enjoyed picnics, field trips, Friday night campfire praise, summer camp, creation/nature classes, capture the flag, smores, and camping, with the family of God, all since July 30th!

We are currently forming our 501c3 non-profit ministry, Malachi 2:15 Family Ministries and have already received our FEIN tax ID, enabling us to accept tax deductible donations and give a tax receipt.

Volunteers have joined us in the good work here, from painting, to cleanup, to rebuilding our stream bridge, to repairing light fixtures, to cutting dead trees, to laying 10 ton of stone for our drainage ditch {featured photo}, and much, much more. Our current project is building cabins for the much needed accommodations for the camp. We’ve got lot’s of land and a lake but few rental units. {See Volunteer Opportunities Below}

Newsletter Sign Up: Please fill out the ’sign up for our mailing’ list form, as we will be using an email service in the future that requires recipient permission.

Family Workshops: Since leaving the pastorate in NJ, Dawn and I have had a heart to minister to Christian Families. We are currently scheduling family and parenting seminars in various churches. If you think that your church could benefit from a Christian Parenting seminar let us know. We are also scheduling three, week long family vacation retreats for the 2010 season at camp.

Featured Photo: The “Teen Group” – led from Glens Falls/Saratoga came up on on a Thursday afternoon, and singlehandedly layed 10 tons of cobblestone to complete our culvert ditch project….all in about two hours time!!! Hats off to the Teen Group!!! Some of those teens joined another group that Saturday to play capture the flag. They put me at one of the flags guarding, for obvious reasons, namely because my gazelle like speed and agility has wained over the years, making it difficult to leap accross fields in a single bound.

Upcoming Events:

Fall/Winter – Girl’s Capture the Flag, Snowshoe Capture the Flag, Sledding & Broom Ball, Riordans’ Teaching a Family Workshop @ Gospel Lighthouse, Hudson Falls. {dates to follow}

Summer 2010 – Week Long Family Vacation Retreats. {Check Back for Exact Dates}

Current Camp Project: Cabin Raisers Needed! We are breaking ground to build cabins! Actually they will all be above ground as the cabins will be on wheels. They are called Park Model RV’s and it makes it easier to use them around the camp and get things started. Park Model RV’s are not categorized as permanent structures and do not require the same building permits that stationary cabins do. Our goal is to get one maybe two built before winter sets in. A brother has donated the first two trailer frames on which the cabins will rest. And we have several brothers who will help in the building, but we could use more help.

Volunteer Opprotunities: We can use more hands to build the cabins, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, handymen, and general laborers. When it comes time to erect the side walls , we will need a crew men to ‘raise the barn/cabin’.

Materials/Funds: Ps 127:1″Unless the LORD builds the house ,its builders labor in vain.”

Dawn and I have come to the conclusion that we can only go so far towards rebuilding this place with our income and funds. If the Lord is in this work, and we believe He is, He will put it on the hearts of the brethren to support it. A brother has donated two frames to begin the project. And we will save about 50% by building it ourselves. Another brother who is a carpenter/home builder has agreed to work on the project for a nominal fee, and we have had several offers for volunteers too. These Park Model RV Cabins cost 40,000.00 each to buy and we have projected a 15,000- 20,000 cost to build each. So, now is the time to help out, if you can, with donations of labor, materials, or funds. We are looking to raise close to 40,000.00 dollars to complete this project. The cabins will be used for our upcoming week long family retreats.

2 Peter 3:18
18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

Victory!

“Everything is possible for him who believes.” Mark 9:23

On 7/30/09 we closed on the property at the Jesus is Lord Park! {see historic signing below- historic for us}

Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and thank God’s people for all the prayer and support!

For our family, the purchase marks the end of a two year adventure of faith beginning with our exodus from NJ, leaving friends, family and ministry to follow the path we believed the Lord would have us take.{Prov 3:5-6}

Things didn’t go as we expected with the purchase. The deal changed so many times, culminating with the bank withdrawing their offer for mortgage last September. All the doors seemed closed tight.

Finally we relented, surrendering all rights to the Lord. Not that we had not already surrendered our rights to the Lord, but there is surrender and then there is SURRENDER. Sometime in early Spring 09 we lay the property and the ministry on the altar once and for all. What a relief it is to really put your trust in the Lord and let Him be Lord!

By June the seller {Dr. Bill- below} agreed to lower the price 110,000.000 in order to accommodate the
bank. We’ll receive that as the providential hand of God! All Glory, praise and honor to the Lord!

“Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful.” Jer 31:4

Celebrate!

Whenever The Lord gave Israel the victory, Israel had a victory party and praised the Lord. In like manner we will be having a series of prayer, praise and dedication services, as well as regular Friday night campfire worship. {Call- email for details}

Rebuild!

Next, it’s rebuilding walls, beginning with a giant cleanup of the property. We will have a ministry
work day every Saturday. Bring the kids and BBQ and swim too.

Join us in this good work, whether it’s at the Friday night campfire praise or the Saturday work ministry.

Use your talents and gifts to help rebuild the Jesus is Lord Park for God’s glory and the good of His people.

Upcoming projects include:
• Rebuilding a 14 foot bridge over our stream – Done!!!
• Painting the Rec. Hall – Part Done!!!!
• Re-doing the Bath-house
• Debris cleanup – Part Done!!!
• Cutting Trees – Largely Done!!!
• Storm water drainage ditch – Done!!!!
• Building Cabins

If you’re gifted in administration or computer skills you can put those skills to work too.

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Eph 4:16
